We are now down to about a post a month. Life is good and we're really busy. My mom and her husband Stuart were here a couple of weeks ago and my friends Bradley and Nobu were here last weekend. With each visitor we're getting to know the city more and more. The more we see of the city the more we love it.
We're also busy with work and I'm also finishing up my final paper for school but what is really keeping us busy is...Wii. For those who haven't heard of Wii - where have you been?! It's a Nintendo game and you actually...physcially play games.
I went back home and stayed with my brother a couple of months ago and he had just found/bought/acquired a Wii system. These things are selling out and they were stalking their nearby Best Buy for months for a Wii. And that's when the addiction started.
I just had to play tennis once and I was hooked. My brother and I played so much we had to put a cap on what time we started and stopped because we couldn't control ourselves. We're both pretty competitive so this was not a good game for us. Every time I play I play until I can't go any more because I am exhausted. I need Wii Anonymous.
Tim has the same addictive/ultra/über competitiveness so he's just as into it. After I got back from Hawaii all I could think about was Wii. Tim was against it because he said we would never see the light of day again if we got it. I tried to resist the Wii but it kept calling me. All I could think of was getting a Wii.
I finally couldn't take it and started looking for one. They were always sold out so it then became a quest to find a Wii and I wanted it even more. I finally gave in and bought a used one for about $100 more than retail. This stupid game is so popular people have been buying them up and reselling them. So I pay the extra money for a USED console and wait.
Afer I put in the order it was like Christmas and waiting for Santa until it got delivered. We finally got the Wii after about a week and played it all night. Tim was hooked. All his boo-hooing about not wanting to get it was gone. He came home the next night with a bag of Wii accessories and games. The next night we go to turn the console on and all we get is the dreaded - black screen.
What makes this all worse is that Tim went to Costco that same day and saw a bunch of Wii bundles. After trying to find a new Wii console, and a bundle at that, we realized that the sighting of a new Wii bundle at Costco was like seeing a unicorn. It was never to be seen again.
Back to the black screen. Tim starts doing some research and there is apparently a glitch in the Wii system and our USED console had it. It was now broken. I thought Tim was going to explode. He was so pissed. There is nothing scarier than a Wii addict who can't get a fix. All we could do was look at the new games and accessories and the black screen until I contacted my seller the next day to see what we could do.
Note: If anyone out there has a Wii - make sure you turn it off otherwise it might NOT go into sleep mode and bad things will happen.
I contacted my seller the next day and all we had to do was send it back and he would send us another one. In the meantime we looked for a new Wii but to no avail. Tim's friend Aaron, who stayed with us that weekend, spent a bit of his precious time in the city helping us find a new Wii system. We even got a bite and a Best Buy had some in stock but by the time we got there *poof* all gone.
It was probably a good thing we didn't get a new one because we did get a working Wii system the next week. But this goes to show the power of the Wii. We didn't care that another Wii system was coming - we needed one right then and now.
I'm addicted to tennis and boxing. Tim's addicted to Guitar Hero and tennis. I see no reason to ever leave the house again. It's been good exercise for us. I played boxing so much that I had a difficult time walking the next day. I was boxing and dodging and throwing punches so every muscle was yelling at me the next day. Then later in the week I popped my shoulder out playing Tim tennis. I now have to rest my arm because it keeps slipping out from my Wii tennis injury. Yes, I need help.
There's yet another reason to come and visit us. If we're not out sightseeing - it's Wii time. Just get in shape before you come.
